It seems like such a short time ago that Beautify Grove City existed only as a group of strangers eating hors d’oeuvres and trying to remember each others’ names. We all met through the Leadership Grove City program offered by Grove City’s Chamber of Commerce. The program challenged us to learn more about our community and how it operates, but more than that, it challenged us to find a way to make a difference in our community.
We all had similar desires: highlight the welcoming nature of Grove City, give the town more visual appeal, and offer members of the community the opportunity to take ownership of the place in which they live, work, and play. What better way to achieve these goals than to beautify Grove City’s green spaces?
Our first targets are the 6 Welcome to Grove City signs. 6 different businesses and organizations have already invested in these signs, so we want to come alongside them and help them to grow their investment. By redesigning the landscaping around the signs, we are able to give the signs a new visual appeal throughout the changing seasons. The beauty around the signs highlights the welcome that we know each business and each individual extends to everyone in the community.
Our goal was to do more than brainstorm ideas: we wanted action. As a Council operating under Grow Grove City, we are now able to see our dreams become a reality. We can’t make this landscaping happen on our own, though.
The new landscaping will cost around $400 per sign. Any donation that you choose to make is tax deductible. Checks can be made out to Beautify Grove City and sent to Beautify Grove City c/o Olde Town Grove City, 118 S Center St, Grove City, PA 16127.
We also need volunteers to help with the initial planting as well as the upkeep of the signs. If you’re interested in volunteering, let us know! Leave a comment or email Connie Stauber at cstauber@qualitylifeservices.com.
We can’t wait to share more of our journey with you.
